"For truly with hardship comes ease; truly with hardship comes ease. "

28.9.11

For truly with hardship comes ease; truly with hardship comes ease. (Surat al-Inshirah: 5-6)

As for those who believe and do righteous deeds – We impose on no one any more than they can bear – they are the Companions of the Garden, remaining in it forever. (Surat al-A’raf: 42)

We do not impose on any one any more than they can stand. With Us there is a Book, which speaks the truth. They will not be wronged. (Surat al-Muminun: 62)

As for him who gives (in charity) and has fear of God and confirms the good, We will pave his way to ease. (Surat al-Layl: 5-7)

But as for him who is stingy and thinks he is self-sufficient, and denies the good, We will pave his way to difficulty. (Surat al-Layl: 8-10)

Whoever has fear of God – He will give him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect. Whoever puts his trust in God – He will be enough for him… (Surat at-Talaq: 2-3)

And the Jews will not be pleased with you, nor the Christians until you follow their religion.

27.9.11

109 Many of the followers of the Book wish that they could turn you back into unbelievers after your faith, out of envy from themselves, (even) after the truth has become manifest to them; but pardon and forgive, so that Allah should bring about His command; surely Allah has power over all things.

110 And keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and whatever good you send before for yourselves, you shall find it with Allah; surely Allah sees what you do.
111 And they say: None shall enter the garden (or paradise) except he who is a Jew or a Christian. These are their vain desires. Say: Bring your proof if you are truthful.
112 Yes! whoever submits himself entirely to Allah and he is the doer of good (to others) he has his reward from his Lord, and there is no fear for him nor shall he grieve.
113 And the Jews say: The Christians do not follow anything (good) and the Christians say: The Jews do not follow anything (good) while they recite the (same) Book. Even thus say those who have no knowledge, like to what they say; so Allah shall judge between them on the day of resurrection in what they differ.

114 And who is more unjust than he who prevents (men) from the masjids of Allah, that His name should be remembered in them, and strives to ruin them? (As for) these, it was not proper for them that they should have entered them except in fear; they shall meet with disgrace in this world, and they shall have great chastisement in the hereafter.
115 And Allah's is the East and the West, therefore, whither you turn, thither is Allah's purpose; surely Allah is Ample-Giving, Knowing.
116 And they say: Allah has taken to himself a son. Glory be to Him; rather, whatever is in the heavens and the earth is His; all are obedient to Him.
117 Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth, and when He decrees an affair, He only says to it, Be, so there it is.
118 And those who have no knowledge say: Why does not Allah speak to us or a sign come to us? Even thus said those before them, the like of what they say; their hearts are all alike. Indeed We have made the communications clear for a people who are sure.
119 Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and you shall not be called upon to answer for the companions of the flaming fire.

120 And the Jews will not be pleased with you, nor the Christians until you follow their religion. Say: Surely Allah's guidance, that is the (true) guidance. And if you follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you shall have no guardian from Allah, nor any helper.

121 Those to whom We have given the Book read it as it ought to be read. These believe in it; and whoever disbelieves in it, these it is that are the losers.
122 O children of Israel, call to mind My favor which I bestowed on you and that I made you excel the nations.
123 And be on your guard against a day when no soul shall avail another in the least neither shall any compensation be accepted from it, nor shall intercession profit it, nor shall they be helped.

Allah sets forth a Parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: Yet was it ungrateful..."

26.9.11

112 Allah sets forth a Parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: Yet was it ungrateful for the favours of Allah. so Allah made it taste of hunger and terror (in extremes) (closing in on it) like a garment (from every side), because of the (evil) which (its people) wrought.
113 And there came to them an Messenger from among themselves, but they falsely rejected him; so the Wrath seized them even in the midst of their iniquities.

114 So eat of the sustenance which Allah has provided for you, lawful and good; and be grateful for the favours of Allah, if it is He Whom ye serve.
115 He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than Allah has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
116 But say not - for any false thing that your tongues may put forth,- "This is lawful, and this is forbidden," so as to ascribe false things to Allah. For those who ascribe false things to Allah, will never prosper.
117 (In such falsehood) is but a paltry profit; but they will have a most grievous Penalty.118 To the Jews We prohibited such things as We have mentioned to thee before: We did them no wrong, but they were used to doing wrong to themselves.
119 But verily thy Lord,- to those who do wrong in ignorance, but who thereafter repent and make amends,- thy Lord, after all this, is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Translation of the Holy Quran, Chapter: An-Nahl (The Bee) Verses : 112-119

"Permission (to fight) is Given to Those Upon Whom War is Made Because They are Oppressed..."

39 Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed, and most surely Allah is well able to assist them;
40 Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause except that they say: Our Lord is Allah. And had there not been Allah's repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah's name is much remembered; and surely Allah will help him who helps His cause; most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.
41 Those who, should We establish them in the land, will keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and enjoin good and forbid evil; and Allah's is the end of affairs.

42 And if they reject you, then already before you did the people of Nuh and Ad and Samood reject (prophets).
43 And the people of Ibrahim and the people of Lut,
44 As well as those of Madyan and Musa (too) was rejected, but I gave respite to the unbelievers, then did I overtake them, so how (severe) was My disapproval.
45 So how many a town did We destroy while it was unjust, so it was fallen down upon its roofs, and (how many a) deserted well and palace raised high.
46 Have they not travelled in the land so that they should have hearts with which to understand, or ears with which to hear? For surely it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts.
47 And they ask you to hasten on the punishment, and Allah will by no means fail in His promise, and surely a day with your Lord is as a thousand years of what you number.
48 And how many a town to which I gave respite while it was unjust, then I overtook it, and to Me is the return.

49 Say: O people! I am only a plain warner to you.
50 Then (as for) those who believe and do good, they shall have forgiveness and an honorable sustenance.
51 And (as for) those who strive to oppose Our communications, they shall be the inmates of the flaming fire.
52 And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet, but when he desired, the Shaitan made a suggestion respecting his desire; but Allah annuls that which the Shaitan casts, then does Allah establish His communications, and Allah is Knowing, Wise,
53 So that He may make what the Shaitan casts a trial for those in whose hearts is disease and those whose hearts are hard; and most surely the unjust are in a great opposition,

54 And that those who have been given the knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, so they may believe in it and their hearts may be lowly before it; and most surely Allah is the Guide of those who believe into a right path.
55 And those who disbelieve shall not cease to be in doubt concerning it until the hour overtakes them suddenly, or there comes on them the chastisement of a destructive day.
56 The kingdom on that day shall be Allah's; He will judge between them; so those who believe and do good will be in gardens of bliss.
57 And (as for) those who disbelieve in and reject Our communications, these it is who shall have a disgraceful chastisement.
58 And (as for) those who fly in Allah's way and are then slain or die, Allah will most certainly grant them a goodly sustenance, and most surely Allah is the best Giver of sustenance.
59 He will certainly cause them to enter a place of entrance which they shall be well pleased with, and most surely Allah is Knowing, Forbearing.

60 That (shall be so); and he who retaliates with the like of that with which he has been afflicted and he has been oppressed, Allah will most certainly aid him; most surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

61 That is because Allah causes the night to enter into the day and causes the day to enter into the night, and because Allah is Hearing, Seeing.

62 That is because Allah is the Truth, and that what they call upon besides Him-- that is the falsehood, and because Allah is the High, the Great.

63 Do you not see that Allah sends down water from the cloud so the earth becomes green? Surely Allah is Benignant, Aware.

64 His is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth; and most surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised.

65 Do you not see that Allah has made subservient to you whatsoever is in the earth and the ships running in the sea by His command? And He withholds the heaven from falling on the earth except with His permission; most surely Allah is Compassionate, Merciful to men.

66 And He it is Who has brought you to life, then He will cause you to die, then bring you to life (again); most surely man is ungrateful.

The Lahore Fort, locally referred to as Shahi Qila is citadel of the city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located in the northwestern corner of the Walled City of Lahore. The trapezoidal composition is spread over 20 hectares.

It is not known who built the fort and neither is it known when it was built. Origins of the fort go as far back as antiquity, however, the existing base structure was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Akbar (1556-1605), and was regularly upgraded by subsequent rulers, having thirteen gates in all. Thus the fort manifests the rich traditions of Mughal architecture.[2] Some of the famous sites inside the fort include: Sheesh Mahal, Alamgiri Gate, Naulakha pavilion, and Moti Masjid. In 1981, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Shalimar Gardens (Lahore).

Favors of Allah (God) upon Isa (Jesus) peace be upon him

109 On the Day of Resurrection when Allah gathers the Rasools (Messengers) and asks: "What response were you given from your addressees?" They will say: "We have no knowledge, only You have all the knowledge of the unseen."

110 Then Allah will ask: "O Isa (Jesus) son of Maryam  (Mary)! Recall my favor upon you and to your mother, how I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, so you could speak to the people in cradle and in old age, how I taught you the Book, Wisdom, the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel). How you were able to make the figure of a bird out of a clay, by My permission, how you breathed into it and changed it into a real bird, by My permission. How you could heal the born-blind and the lepers by My permission. How you could bring the dead body back to life by My permission. How I protected you from the violence of the Children of Israel when you came to them with clear signs and the unbelievers among them said: "This is nothing but a clear sorcery."

111 Remember when I inspired the disciples to have faith in Me and My Rasool (Messenger) and they said: 'We believe and bear witness that we have become Muslims."
11 How when the disciples asked: "O Isa son of Maryam! Can your Rabb (Lord) send down to us from heaven a table spread with food?" And you said: "Have fear of Allah if you are true believers."

113 They said: "We only wish to eat thereof to satisfy our hearts and to know that you have indeed told us the truth, and that we bear witness to it."
114 Isa the son of Maryam said: "O Allah, our Rabb! Send us from heaven a table spread with food that it may mark a feast, one of a kind for those before us and for those after us, as a sign from You; and provide us our sustenance, You are the best Sustainer."

115 Allah responded: "I shall send it down to you, but if any of you disbelieve after that, I shall punish him with a torment which I have never inflicted on anyone in the worlds."

116 (After reminding him of these favors,) Allah will say: "O Isa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Marry), Did you ever say to the people, "worship me and my mother as gods beside Allah?"
He will answer: "Glory to You! How could I say what I had no right to say? If I had ever said so, you would have certainly known it. You know what is in my heart, but I know not what is in Yours; for You have full knowledge of all the unseen.

117 I never said anything other than what You commanded me to say, that is to worship Allah, Who is my Rabb (Lord) and your Rabb. I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them; but when You called me off, You were the Watcher over them and You are a Witness to everything.
118 If You punish them, they surely are Your servants; and if You forgive them, You are Mighty, Wise."

119 Allah will say: "This is the day on which the truthful will profit from their truth; they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow to live therein forever. Allah is well-pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. This is the mighty achievement."

And He it is Who made the night a covering for you, and the sleep a rest, and He made the day to rise up again.

22.9.11

45 Have you not considered (the work of) your Lord, how He extends the shade? And if He had pleased He would certainly have made it stationary; then We have made the sun an indication of it.
46 Then We take it to Ourselves, taking little by little.

47 And He it is Who made the night a covering for you, and the sleep a rest, and He made the day to rise up again.
48 And He it is Who sends the winds as good news before His mercy; and We send down pure water from the cloud,
49 That We may give life thereby to a dead land and give it for drink, out of what We have created, to cattle and many people.
50 And certainly We have repeated this to them that they may be mindful, but the greater number of men do not consent to aught except denying.

51 And if We had pleased We would certainly have raised a warner in every town.
52 So do not follow the unbelievers, and strive against them a mighty striving with it.
53 And He it is Who has made two seas to flow freely, the one sweet that subdues thirst by its sweetness, and the other salt that burns by its saltiness; and between the two He has made a barrier and inviolable obstruction.

54 And He it is Who has created man from the water, then He has made for him blood relationship and marriage relationship, and your Lord is powerful.
55 And they serve besides Allah that which neither profits them nor causes them harm; and the unbeliever is a partisan against his Lord.

56 And We have not sent you but as a giver of good news and as a warner.
57 Say: I do not ask you aught in return except that he who will, may take the way to his Lord.
58 And rely on the Ever-living Who dies not, and celebrate His praise; and Sufficient is He as being aware of the faults of His servants,
59 Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six periods, and He is firmly established on the throne of authority; the Beneficent Allah, so ask respecting it one aware.

60 And when it is said to them: Prostrate to the Beneficent Allah, they say: And what is the Allah of beneficence? Shall we prostrate to what you bid us? And it adds to their aversion.
61 Blessed is He Who made the constellations in the heavens and made therein a lamp and a shining moon.
62 And He it is Who made the night and the day to follow each other for him who desires to be mindful or desires to be thankful.

Translation of The Holy Quran, Chapter: Al-Furqan (The Standard )Verses 45-62.

"And the Messenger (PBUH) will say: "O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Qur'an..."

21.9.11

1 Blessed is He Who sent down the Furqan upon His servant that he may be a warner to the nations;
2 He, Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Who did not take to Himself a son, and Who has no associate in the kingdom, and Who created everything, then ordained for it a measure.
3 And they have taken besides Him gods, who do not create anything while they are themselves created, and they control not for themselves any harm or profit, and they control not death nor life, nor raising (the dead) to life.
4 And those who disbelieve say: This is nothing but a lie which he has forged, and other people have helped him at it; so indeed they have done injustice and (uttered) a falsehood.
5 And they say: The stories of the ancients-- he has got them written-- so these are read out to him morning and evening.

6 Say: He has revealed it Who knows the secret in the heavens and the earth; surely He is ever Forgiving, Merciful.
7 And they say: What is the matter with this Messenger that he eats food and goes about in the markets; why has not an angel been sent down to him, so that he should have been a warner with him?
8 Or (why is not) a treasure sent down to him, or he is made to have a garden from which he should eat? And the unjust say: You do not follow any but a man deprived of reason.
9 See what likenesses do they apply to you, so they have gone astray, therefore they shall not be able to find a way.
10 Blessed is He Who, if He please, will give you what is better than this, gardens beneath which rivers flow, and He will give you palaces.
11 But they reject the hour, and We have prepared a burning fire for him who rejects the hour.
12 When it shall come into their sight from a distant place, they shall hear its vehement raging and roaring.
13 And when they are cast into a narrow place in it, bound, they shall there call out for destruction.
14 Call not this day for one destruction, but call for destructions many.
15 Say: Is this better or the abiding garden which those who guard (against evil) are promised? That shall be a reward and a resort for them.
16 They shall have therein what they desire abiding (in it); it is a promise which it is proper to be prayed for from your Lord.
17 And on the day when He shall gather them, and whatever they served besides Allah, He shall say: Was it you who led astray these My servants, or did they themselves go astray from the path?
18 They shall say: Glory be to Thee; it was not beseeming for us that we should take any guardians besides Thee, but Thou didst make them and their fathers to enjoy until they forsook the reminder, and they were a people in perdition,
19 So they shall indeed give you the lie in what you say, then you shall not be able to ward off or help, and whoever among you is unjust, We will make him taste a great chastisement.
20 And We have not sent before you any messengers but they most surely ate food and went about in the markets; and We have made some of you a trial for others; will you bear patiently? And your Lord is ever Seeing.

21 And those who do not hope for Our meeting, say: Why have not angels been sent down upon us, or (why) do we not see our Lord? Now certainly they are too proud of themselves and have revolted in great revolt.
22 On the day when they shall see the angels, there shall be no joy on that day for the guilty, and they shall say: It is a forbidden thing totally prohibited.
23 And We will proceed to what they have done of deeds, so We shall render them as scattered floating dust.
24 The dwellers of the garden shall on that day be in a better abiding-place and a better resting-place.
25 And on the day when the heaven shall burst asunder with the clouds, and the angels shall be sent down descending (in ranks).
26 The kingdom on that day shall rightly belong to the Beneficent Allah, and a hard day shall it be for the unbelievers.
27 And the day when the unjust one shall bite his hands saying: O! would that I had taken a way with the Messenger
28 O woe is me! would that I had not taken such a one for a friend !
29 Certainly he led me astray from the reminder after it had come to me; and the Shaitan fails to aid man.
30 And the Messenger cried out: O my Lord! surely my people have treated this Quran as a forsaken thing.

31 And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the sinners and sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and a Helper.
32 And those who disbelieve say: Why has not the Quran been revealed to him all at once? Thus, that We may strengthen your heart by it and We have arranged it well in arranging.
33 And they shall not bring to you any argument, but We have brought to you (one) with truth and best in significance.
34 (As for) those who shall be gathered upon their faces to hell, they are in a worse plight and straying farther away from the path.

35 And certainly We gave Musa the Book and We appointed with him his brother Haroun an aider.
36 Then We said: Go you both to the people who rejected Our communications; so We destroyed them with utter destruction.
37 And the people of Nuh, when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and made them a sign for men, and We have prepared a painful punishment for the unjust;
38 And Ad and Samood and the dwellers of the Rass and many generations between them.
39 And to every one We gave examples and every one did We destroy with utter destruction.
40 And certainly they have (often) passed by the town on which was rained an evil rain; did they not then see it? Nay! they did not hope to be raised again.
41 And when they see you, they do not take you for aught but a mockery: Is this he whom Allah has raised to be an messenger?
42 He had well-nigh led us astray from our gods had we not adhered to them patiently! And they will know, when they see the punishment, who is straying farther off from the path.

43 Have you seen him who takes his low desires for his god? Will you then be a protector over him?
44 Or do you think that most of them do hear or understand? They are nothing but as cattle; nay, they are straying farther off from the path.
45 Have you not considered (the work of) your Lord, how He extends the shade? And if He had pleased He would certainly have made it stationary; then We have made the sun an indication of it
46 Then We take it to Ourselves, taking little by little.

63 And the servants of the Beneficent Allah are they who walk on the earth in humbleness, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.
64 And they who pass the night prostrating themselves before their Lord and standing.
65 And they who say: O our Lord! turn away from us the punishment of hell, surely the punishment thereof is a lasting
66 Surely it is an evil abode and (evil) place to stay.
67 And they who when they spend, are neither extravagant nor parsimonious, and (keep) between these the just mean.
68 And they who do not call upon another god with Allah and do not slay the soul, which Allah has forbidden except in the requirements of justice, and (who) do not commit fornication and he who does this shall find a requital of sin;
69 The punishment shall be doubled to him on the day of resurrection, and he shall abide therein in abasement;
70 Except him who repents and believes and does a good deed; so these are they of whom Allah changes the evil deeds to good ones; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
71 And whoever repents and does good, he surely turns to Allah a (goodly) turning.
72 And they who do not bear witness to what is false, and when they pass by what is vain, they pass by nobly.
73 And they who, when reminded of the communications of their Lord, do not fall down thereat deaf and blind.
74 And they who say: O our Lord! grant us in our wives and our offspring the joy of our eyes, and make us guides to those who guard (against evil).
75 These shall be rewarded with high places because they were patient, and shall be met therein with greetings and salutations.
76 Abiding therein; goodly the abode and the resting-place.
77 Say: My Lord would not care for you were it not for your prayer; but you have indeed rejected (the truth), so that which shall cleave shall come.

"And they say: There is nothing but our life in this world; we live and die and nothing destroys us but time...."

21 Nay! do those who have wrought evil deeds think that We will make them like those who believe and do good-- that their life and their death shall be equal? Evil it is that they judge.

22 And Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth and that every soul may be rewarded for what it has earned and they shall not be wronged.
23 Have you then considered him who takes his low desire for his god, and Allah has made him err having knowledge and has set a seal upon his ear and his heart and put a covering upon his eye. Who can then guide him after Allah? Will you not then be mindful?
24 And they say: There is nothing but our life in this world; we live and die and nothing destroys us but time, and they have no knowledge of that; they only conjecture.

25 And when Our clear communications are recited to them, their argument is no other than that they say: Bring our fathers (back) if you are truthful.
26 Say: Allah gives you life, then He makes you die, then will He gather you to the day of resurrection wherein is no doubt, but most people do not know.
27 And Allah's is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and on the day when the hour shall come to pass, on that day shall they perish who say false things.

28 And you shall see every nation kneeling down; every nation shall be called to its book: today you shall be rewarded for what you did.
29 This is Our book that speaks against you with justice; surely We wrote what you did,
30 Then as to those who believed and did good, their Lord will make them enter into His mercy; that is the manifest achievement.
31 As to those who disbelieved: What! were not My communications recited to you? But you were proud and you were a guilty people.

32 And when it was said, Surely the promise of Allah is true and as for the hour, there is no doubt about it, you said: We do not know what the hour is; we do not think (that it will come to pass) save a passing thought, and we are not at all sure.
33 And the evil (consequences) of what they did shall become manifest to them and that which they mocked shall encompass them.
34 And it shall be said: Today We forsake you as you neglected the meeting of this day of yours and your abode is the fire, and there are not for you any helpers:

35 That is because you took the communications of Allah for a jest and the life of this world deceived you. So on that day they shall not be brought forth from it, nor shall they be granted goodwill.
36 Therefore to Allah is due (all) praise, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, the Lord of the worlds.
37 And to Him belongs greatness in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Most Surely in the Heavens and the Earth there are Signs for the Believers.

12.9.11

1 Ha Mim.
2 The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.

3 Most surely in the heavens and the earth there are signs for the believers.
4 And in your (own) creation and in what He spreads abroad of animals there are signs for a people that are sure;
5 And (in) the variation of the night and the day, and (in) what Allah sends down of sustenance from the cloud, then gives life thereby to the earth after its death, and (in) the changing of the winds, there are signs for a people who understand.

6 These are the communications of Allah which We recite to you with truth; then in what announcement would they believe after Allah and His communications?
7 Woe to every sinful liar,
8 Who hears the communications of Allah recited to him, then persists proudly as though he had not heard them; so announce to him a painful punishment.
9 And when he comes to know of any of Our communications, he takes it for a jest; these it is that shall have abasing chastisement.

10 Before them is hell, and there shall not avail them aught of what they earned, nor those whom they took for guardians besides Allah, and they shall have a grievous punishment.
11 This is guidance; and (as for) those who disbelieve in the communications of their Lord, they shall have a painful punishment on account of uncleanness.
12 Allah is He Who made subservient to you the sea that the ships may run therein by His command, and that you may seek of His grace, and that you may give thanks.

13 And He has made subservient to you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, all, from Himself; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.
14 Say to those who believe (that) they forgive those who do not fear the days of Allah that He may reward a people for what they earn.
15 Whoever does good, it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against himself; then you shall be brought back to your-- Lord.

16 And certainly We gave the Book and the wisdom and the prophecy to the children of Israel, and We gave them of the goodly things, and We made them excel the nations.
17 And We gave them clear arguments in the affair, but they did not differ until after knowledge had come to them out of envy among themselves; surely your -Lord will judge between them on the day of resurrection concerning that wherein they differed.
18 Then We have made you follow a course in the affair, therefore follow it, and do not follow the low desires of those who do not know.

19 Surely they shall not avail you in the least against Allah; and surely the unjust are friends of each other, and Allah is the guardian of those who guard (against evil).
20 These are clear proofs for men, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who are sure.

21 Nay! do those who have wrought evil deeds think that We will make them like those who believe and do good-- that their life and their death shall be equal?

The Ability to See the Signs of God

The Ability to See the Signs of God

By: Harun Yahya

Say: "Praise be to God. He will show you His Signs and you will recognize them. Your Lord is not heedless of anything you do." (Surat an-Naml: 93)

In today's society, people assess the Qur'an very differently from what is the real purpose of its revelation. In the Islamic world, in general, very few people know the contents of the Qur'an.

Some Muslim people often hang the Qur'an on the walls of their houses within a decorative cover and elderly people read it from time to time. They assume that the Qur'an protects those who read it from "misfortune and trouble". According to this superstition, they consider the Qur'an a sort of amulet against misfortunes.

The Qur'anic verses, however, inform us that the purpose of the Qur'an's revelation is entirely different from what is mentioned above. For instance, in the 52nd verse of Surah Ibrahim, God states: "This is a communication to be transmitted to mankind so that they can be warned by it and so that they will know that He is One God and so that people of intelligence will pay heed." In many other verses, God emphasizes that one of the most crucial purposes of the Qur'an's revelation is to invite people to ponder.

In the Qur'an, God invites people to reject blindly accepting the beliefs and values society imposes on them and to ponder by pushing aside all the prejudices, taboos and constraints on their minds.

Man must think on how he came into being, what is the purpose of his life, why he will die and what awaits him after death. He must question how he himself and the whole universe came into existence and how they continue to exist. While doing this, he must relieve himself of all constraints and prejudices.

By thinking, while isolating his conscience from all social, ideological and psychological obligations, the person should eventually perceive that the entire universe, including himself, is created by a superior power. Even when he examines his own body or any other thing in nature, he will see an impressive harmony, plan and wisdom at work within its design.

At this point again, the Qur'an guides man. In the Qur'an, God guides us as to what we should reflect on and investigate. With the methods of reflection given in the Qur'an, he who has faith in God will better perceive God's perfection, eternal wisdom, knowledge and power in His creation. When a believing person starts to think in the way shown in the Qur'an, he soon realizes that the whole universe is a sign of God's power and art, and that, "nature is a work of art, not the artist itself". Every work of art exhibits the exceptional skills of the one who has made it and conveys his messages.

In the Qur'an, people are summoned to contemplate numerous events and objects that clearly testify to the existence and uniqueness of God and His attributes. In the Qur'an, all these beings that bear witness are designated as "signs", meaning "tested evidence, absolute knowledge and expression of truth". Therefore, the signs of God comprise all the beings in the universe that disclose and communicate the being and attributes of God. Those who can observe and remember will see that the entire universe is only composed of the signs of God.

This, indeed, is the responsibility of mankind; to be able to see the signs of God... Thus, such a person will come to know the Creator who created him and all other things, draw closer to Him, discover the meaning of his existence and his life and so prosper.

Each thing, the breaths a human takes, political and social developments; the cosmic harmony in the universe, the atom, which is one of the smallest pieces of matter, is each a sign of God and they all operate under His control and knowledge, abiding by His laws. Recognizing and knowing the signs of God calls for personal effort. Everyone will recognize and know the signs of God in accordance with his own wisdom and conscience.

Undoubtedly, some guidelines may also help. As the first step, one can investigate certain points stressed in the Qur'an in order to acquire the mentality that perceives the whole universe as an articulation of the things created by God.

God's signs in nature are emphasized in Surat an-Nahl:

It is He who sends down water from the sky. From it you drink and from it come the shrubs among which you graze your herds. And by it He makes crops grow for you and olives and dates and grapes and fruit of every kind. . There is certainly a sign in that for people who reflect. He has made the night and the day subservient to you, and the sun, the moon and the stars, all subject to His command. There are certainly signs in that for people who use their intellect. And also the things of varying colors He has created for you in the earth. There is certainly a sign in that for people who pay heed. It is He who made the sea subservient to you so that you can eat fresh flesh from it and bring out from it ornaments to wear. And you see the ships cleaving through it so that you can seek His bounty, and so that perhaps you may show thanks. He cast firmly embedded mountains on the earth so it would not move under you, and rivers and pathways so that perhaps you might be guided, and landmarks. And they are guided by the stars. Is He Who creates like him who does not create? So will you not pay heed? (Surat an-Nahl: 10-17)

In the Qur'an, God invites men of understanding to think about the issues which other people overlook, or just dismiss using such barren terms as "evolution", "coincidence", or "a miracle of nature".

In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are Signs for people of intelligence: those who remember God standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: "Our Lord, You did not create this for nothing. Glory be to You! So guard us from the punishment of the Fire. (Surah Ali-'Imran: 190-191)

As we see in these verses, people of understanding see the signs of God and try to comprehend His eternal knowledge, power and art by remembering and reflecting on them, for God's knowledge is limitless, and His creation flawless.

For men of understanding, everything around them is a sign of this creation.
